Lately I have been getting large numbers of page views on this blog, like in the hundreds, when ten or twelve is the normal. At first I was thrilled I was getting so many hits, but then I realized that no one was commenting. It appears that I am on some kind of random phishing, so I have changed the privacy settings and hopefully only other bloggers can read this. Has this happened to you?
Hey Shannon, yes, this has happened on my blog a few times throughout the years. I was puzzled at first but lately I don't even give it a thought. I can't tell much from my stats so I pretty much tend to ignore them, guess I should pay attention like other, more on the ball bloggers do! Hope all is well in your world and that Spring is on the way.
ReplyDeleteYes, after blogging a couple of years I was astonished at how popular I'd become in Russia and parts of Asia. I made some adjustments, like you, and had to eliminate anonymous comments --also use comment moderation. Still, I see the dashboard graph spike vigorously while strange-looking source urls appear, usually with "ru" in them but they affect nothing.

ReplyDeleteThis is just wha'ts happening to me right now. Also ususally with .ru, and coming from Russia and Bielorussia. I also had millions of profil consulations !!!
I was worrying a bit about it too. But since it seems to happen to everybody, maybe it is not a such an issue (and if it turns out to be a problem maybe blogspot will do something about it). Just make sure that your password is complex enough so that nobody can break it.
